BALLOT DEADLINE MONDAY, MAY 8, 2006

Greetings to our fellow 300 Club Members!!  The season has begun with controversy (see below) but we are up and running and ready for another great 300 Club Season!

First, you will find enclosed in this letter several of our 2006 Three Hundred Club “business cards.” These list the deadline, the website, and a phone number to call with any questions. As we did in 2005, we repeat our two-fer New-Member offer:  any Member who signs up two new Members for 2006 plays free and saves the 2006  dues!  As always, our dues are $50 for returning Members plus a one-time Initiation Fee of $25 for new Members.

REGARDING THE JIMMY ROLLINS CONSECUTIVE-GAME HITTING STREAK:  THE 300 CLUB BOARD RULES THAT THE 2006 SEASON STARTS AT ONE GAME

We have had tons of inquiry from Members on Jimmy Rollins' hitting streak and how it will affect the 2006 Dimaggio Prize.  As you know, Rollins hit in 36 straight games to end the '05 Season and also had a hit on Opening Day 2006.  Is the longest hit-streak so far in '06 1 game or 37 games?  We have ruled it is one game.  Here's why:  First, from mlb.com's article April 4: "The marks for longest hitting streak in one season and longest spanning two seasons are separate records, according to the Elias Sports Bureau." Second, here is the official 300 Club Rule for the Dimaggio Prize: "Select the number of games attained by the player getting the highest consecutive game hitting streak for the season." Despite Rollins’ ’05 streak, the longest hitting streak for just the ’06 season will determine the Dimaggio Prize winner.  So remember – Rollins’ ’05 streak does not count – mark your Ballot accordingly!

Notes for Ballots:  Be sure your credit card billing address is correct, or your Ballot can’t be activated.  Traded players who appear on last year’s team can be chosen safely; the system will correct the team.  You can enter your Ballot now (only you can see it) and change it any time up ‘til the Deadline. After the Deadline, paid Ballots will be activated, ranked, and will be visible to all. Ballots in by the Deadline but not yet paid will be activated when payment is received. Paper Ballots and checks are OK if received by Monday May 8.  See new address below.

So don’t forget – the 2005 Ballot Deadline is MONDAY, MAY 8 – remember to save a reminder card, and to hand ‘em out to your pals who might like to play, and you can play for free!  Good luck to all for 2006!   May you have the best Ballot – after mine!
